2 Timothy 3:

2For men will be lovers of self, lovers of money, boastful, arrogant, revilers, disobedient to parents, ungrateful, unholy, 3unloving, irreconcilable, malicious gossips, without self-control, brutal, haters of good, 4treacherous, reckless, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, 5holding to a form of godliness, although they have denied its power; Avoid such men as these. 6For among them are those who enter into households and captivate weak women weighed down with sins, led on by various impulses, 7always learning and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth. 8Just as Jannes and Jambres opposed Moses, so these men also oppose the truth, men of depraved mind, rejected in regard to the faith. 9But they will not make further progress; for their folly will be obvious to all, just as Jannes’s and Jambres’s folly was also. Support your ministers to support the work of God.

Some church members feel very proud when they can say that the pastor of their church have a full time job besides his ministry.

Some others feel proud that they can support a minister.

Why ministers will stay sitting down and going into trips paid by the church members?

Well, some ministers may not do much to justify a salary. (more…)

Woman in church (Marry women)

Women and God's plan

The only difference between women and men is our roll in procreation and parenthood. Therefore, our differences are physical and social, not spiritual.

Proverbs 31 lift up our spirits and make us want to be just as the virtuous woman.  We are so exited, and then, we expect even better things from our Lord Jesus and his wonderful plan of salvation.

But then, we find 1 Corinthians 14:34-35 and 1 Timothy 2:9-12.  We can’t talk in the church, not even ask.  We can’t teach.  We need to dress in certain way were certain things are prohibited.

We get all depressed and think, may the old testament work better for women?   Should we rather go back to the law, become Jews and refuse to accept the grace? But hey, one moment!  Paul is citing the law. “34 women should remain silent in the churches. They are not allowed to speak, but must be in submission, as the Law says.”

Why women should continue under the law while men enjoy the freedom of the grace?

Our Lord Jesus came to preach a spiritual kingdom where even slaves are made free.  Where to serve God is not longer a burden but a joy and a choice.

Man can follow what God put on their hearts, but women should follow the law and men rules?  If God calls, should we say:  No Lord, I should allow my husband to go instead of me,  because Paul said that the law said so.

I remember these two women in church saying between themselves that they do not believe a woman should be a pastor.  Well, if God did not call you.  You should not be a pastor, but do not take least all those women who carry the burden by the grace of God and have to fight the opposition, everyday.

My first pastor was a woman.  She handle a large congregation.  That was my first evangelical church, and I am still a believer.  And I know many other people who were also blessed through her ministry.

The scripture says in Deuteronomy 25:4 “Do not muzzle an ox while it is treading out the grain.”

Proverbs 31

15 She gets up while it is still dark;
she provides food for her family
and portions for her servant girls.

— She is a leader —

16 She considers a field and buys it;
out of her earnings she plants a vineyard.

— She is a decision maker —

23 Her husband is respected at the city gate,
where he takes his seat among the elders of the land.

— She brings honor to her husband —

26 She speaks with wisdom,
and faithful instruction is on her tongue.

—  She is not only allowed to speak, but her intelligence is
appreciated —

27 She watches over the affairs of her household
and does not eat the bread of idleness.

— She is hard-worker and determined —

28 Her children arise and call her blessed;
her husband also, and he praises her:

—  Everyone in the family loves her and appreciates her —

1 Corinthians 14:34-35
34 women should remain silent in the churches. They are not allowed to speak, but must be in submission, as the Law says. 35 If they want to inquire about something, they should ask their own husbands at home; for it is disgraceful for a woman to speak in the church.

1 Timothy 2:9-12

9I also want women to dress modestly, with decency and propriety, not with braided hair or gold or pearls or expensive clothes, 10but with good deeds, appropriate for women who profess to worship God.

11A woman should learn in quietness and full submission. 12I do not permit a woman to teach or to have authority over a man; she must be silent.

Christian Positions that are not according The gospel of Jesus Christ

It’s not enough to call ourselves Christians, we need to follow Jesus teachings and be light to the world bringing up The Kingdom of God. We all need to be born again and allow Jesus to lead our actions and thoughts.

  • Hate to Emigrants
  • Hate to homosexuals
  • Hate to Jews
  • Segregate Children with Home schooling
  • Supporting of wars
  • Believing that worth is synonymous of God blessing
  • Race divided churches

Hate to emigrants: This is contradictory to the hospitality preached in the bible, and original American values.

Hebrews 13:2
“Stop neglecting to show hospitality to strangers, for by showing hospitality some have had angels as their guests without being aware of it.”

Home Schooling and Segregation of your children: Believers are not called to segregate themselves, but to influence the world with their Christian faith.

Matthew 5:13-16:
“You are the salt of the earth; but if the salt has lost its taste, how shall its saltiness be restored? … You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hid… Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.”

Hate to homosexuals instead of hate to homosexuality: Christians should not hate to anyone neither behave aggressively against any group.  Homosexuality is wrong, but hate is not going to fix it.  Jesus shed his blood for everyone regardless of race, sexual orientation or gender.  Social and moral problems should be fix by the roots, not by the branches.  Only Jesus gives a new birth transforming the heart.  We can’t change anyone and can’t either push anyone into changing.

1 John 2:9-10
“Anyone who claims to be in the light but hates his brother is still in the darkness. Whoever loves his brother lives in the light, and there is nothing in him to make him stumble.”

Hate to Jews: The nation of Israel is the nation that God chose to put his name over it.  And The Lord those not repents.

It’s true that they rejected Jesus and God made a new covenant with his church.  But it’s also true that while believers in Jesus Christ are the spiritual Israel, The people of Israel are still the physical people of God.

Money as a sign of blessing: Money is part of earthly blessing.  But those seeking the kingdom make their treasure on Heaven where

Mathews 6:20
“But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moth and rust do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal.”

Race Divided Churches:

  • White churches will allow blacks, but they won’t let them assume positions of leadership.
  • Blacks will stay in a withe church, but would not feel happy with the differences and non intentional but still painful comments of racism.
  • Whites still can’t help to feel insecure in black communities.
  • White can’t either help to feel that they need to lead over blacks.
  • White still think that they are smarter and more educated for being white

As you can see, we all need to be born again and allow Jesus to lead our actions and thoughts.

Enlighten

His light is brighter than the sun's light.

Enlightenment is more like loosing that cover from your eyes that does not let you see the true in things.  It’s like waking up to a reality before unknown.

This is a way to explain a real conversion like it was the case of the apostle Paul.  It’s the knowledge received by the Holy Spirit where the believer is convinced of sin and realize that what he though he knew, wasn’t as he thought.  The believer understands without further explanation, that something important has happened in his life.  And that his life, requires a drastic change.

According to some dictionaries, enlightenment is just learning something new.

On the other hand, baptism is like to deep in.

Baptism in The Holy Spirit is an experience where God himself make you part of his family and a new member of the spiritual world.   It’s a great deal of controversy surrounding this.  Some affirm that this type of manifestations are not biblical and even call them heresies.   So far, almost everything seem a heresy.

The Pentecostal evangelicals, believe that what happened in Pentecost did not end up with the apostles.  It actually continues today in the same way.  Pentecostal evangelicals affirm that they speak to God, listen to Him, speak in new tongues angelic and human languages, heal the sick, resurrect the death and perform miracles just like Jesus and the Apostles did.

That even when times had changed, God and his church remain the same.

It’s also understood that a great deal of knowledge about Jesus Christ and his primitive church was lost.  After the reform of Martin Luther, the church has gone through a recovering experience trying to go back to the original church.  This has been the effort of many ministers and church revivals.

Revivals is the ideal stage of the church when the church is directed by God through the Holly Spirit.  It’s an experience where people come to the knowledge of Jesus Christ, the sick are healed, and miracles just happen reinforcing the faith of the believers.

Many Pentecostal Evangelicals believe that revivals should stay in every Christian life as the day they believe and accepted Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior.  Revival is what causes to receive the gospel of Jesus Christ.  The message of Jesus is a revival in itself.

There is a mystic way to explain spiritual matters; way that make them feel far and unrealistic.

But the gospel of Jesus Christ is simple enough to be understood by the uneducated as well than by the intellectuals.  At the same time is too complex for the fleshy mind that only can understand physical terms.

To understand God and His true, more than a mind, we need a heart.

There is the story of two tween brothers, Esau and Jacob. Jacob, the younger brother probably by minutes because he came out after his brother, wanted to be the first. Esau did not care much about it.

“But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.”
1 Corinthians 2:14
Certain things are mean to be understood spiritually

Jacob knew about the promises of God and wanted to have them. But there was no way he could inherited the bless and the promise because he couldn’t change the fact that he was the minor brother.

But one day, his brother came hungry from hunting. He was cooking and his brother wanted some. Jacob took advantage and offered his brother some of the stew in exchange for his right to the blessing. His brother didn’t pay much attention of what was going on. He said, give me the stew, who cares about the right of being the first. He thought that, he was the first anyway. But it seems that God did not think that way.

Finally, Jacob didn’t get the inheritance, but he got the blessing and the promise of God.

Jacob’s ambition was for the things of above. The things that Esau could not see.

Another story is the one of David and Saul. King Saul was a humble man who liked the people, but who estimated people’s opinions over God’s. David on the other hand, was a charismatic boy who liked God and so, God’s people. He was willing to put his life for the people of Israel. Saul disobeyed God to please the people. And after being rejected by the Lord, and hear that his kingdom would be given to someone else, his only concern is to look good before the people and the elders.

1 Samuel 15: 30
“Saul replied, “I have sinned. But please honor me before the elders of my people and before Israel; come back with me, so that I may worship the LORD your God.” 31 So Samuel went back with Saul, and Saul worshiped the LORD. ”

We can clearly see that the fleshy man cares more of people’s opinion. What people would say is more important than what God may think.
Galatians 1:10
Am I now trying to win the approval of men, or of God? Or am I trying to please men? If I were still trying to please men, I would not be a servant of Christ.

If anyone has the intention of exercising power over anyone through ministry, such a person should never minister in the church of The Lord.

If anyone wants to be over the others, such has to turn into the servant of everyone. This is what Jesus says.

Should a woman teach? This is a very polemical theme nowadays. The Didascalia is one of the non-canonical books. It gives us a more detailed explanation of what Paul writes in 1 Corinthians 14:34, and 1 Timothy 2:12. It seems that the widows were uneducated and not suitable to give an acceptable response about doctrines and issues on concerning punishment and reward, and the kingdom of the name of Christ and other subjects. This commands also applies to the layman. The idea seems to be to stop the Gospel from getting corrupted and misunderstood by the gentiles and new believers.

The widows were allow to speak about non-complex subjects such as concerning righteousness and faith in God.

Ministry is service, responsibility, sacrifice. You don’t preach to be honored, but to honor God. When you honor God, you are not seeking for recognition of any kind, but to do the will of God even if that represents to fight discrimination at your own church. The greatest ministers that history recognizes were killed, went to jail, and did not enjoy much reverence.

God called prophets when his people were in sin, to bring them back to repentance. Most of the time, kings hated the ministers of God, because their words were not pleasant.

Men of God who are sent by God are rarely welcome. There is no advantage on being a minister other than spiritual, and this is by the faith in God.

Let’s serve God with a pure heart and clean conscious  not seeking to please ourselves but to The Lord.

It’s a bigger issue to stop bad workers who offend the ministry with their actions than discriminating women preachers. As a good Christian, our main concern should be make sure that the ministers are bringing God’s message. If the message is good, let’s receive it. Let’s not judge, let God be the judge. Remember that we are not under the low of men but under the grace of God in Jesus Christ our Lord and Saviour.

Pray to God over everything and watch for the fruits. A good tree will produce good fruits and a bad one, will produce bad fruits. The good preacher or minister will conduct in a good way according to the word of God. If a particular woman is a vessel of honor in the house of the Lord, why to disturb her? There is nothing in the bible that says that to be a woman is a sin. Nothing clearly says that women are unworthy of preaching the gospel of Jesus which is mean to be preached by testimonies. It says that Paul did not allowed women to teach or exercise power over men.

We all know that Paul often says this is from the Lord or this is from me. He made sure that the church understood that he was not speaking by the Lord all the time, but rather as a men experienced in the faith of Jesus Christ.

If you have something to testify about the wonders of God, you can preach in faith that God is wonderful and righteous.
