2 Timothy 3:
2For men will be lovers of self, lovers of money, boastful, arrogant, revilers, disobedient to parents, ungrateful, unholy, 3unloving, irreconcilable, malicious gossips, without self-control, brutal, haters of good, 4treacherous, reckless, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, 5holding to a form of godliness, although they have denied its power; Avoid such men as these. 6For among them are those who enter into households and captivate weak women weighed down with sins, led on by various impulses, 7always learning and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth. 8Just as Jannes and Jambres opposed Moses, so these men also oppose the truth, men of depraved mind, rejected in regard to the faith. 9But they will not make further progress; for their folly will be obvious to all, just as Jannes’s and Jambres’s folly was also.
When I first saw this scripture, I did not understand that the apostle was talking about people who perform as ministers. It was too much to believe it. But now we can see it. Ministers who use religion as another way of becoming rich. We see rappers, molesters, and all sort of indignity. We see men who get offended when someone does not address them as reverend.
GOD’S WORD® Translation (©1995)
Beware of dogs! Beware of those who do evil things. Beware of those who insist on circumcision.
We are the [true] circumcised people [of God] because we serve God’s Spirit and take pride in Christ Jesus. We don’t place any confidence in physical things,
Be aware of those who preach holiness based on physical things like long skirts, long leave shirts as a way to reach holiness. Holiness is to keep yourself away from doing or practicing anything that is evil. Holiness is to follow the word of God just as Jesus preached it to us.
Romans 16:17 Now I beseech you, brethren, mark them which cause divisions
and offenses contrary to the doctrine which ye have learned; and avoid them.
18 For they that are such serve not our Lord Jesus Christ, but their own belly;
and by good words and fair speeches deceive the hearts of the simple.
Finlay, protect your church against those who dishonor the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. Do not judge people for the appearance, but check on their fruits and judge whether they serve our Lord God or something else. Like the apostle John said, by their fruits, you will know them. And remember, the fruit, is the fruit of the spirit, love, joy, peace, patience, goodness, meekness, faith, self-control.
Do not believe on tears. Do not believe on noise. Do not believe on titles. Do not believe on shows. Do not get impress by knowledge but by the fruit of the spirit.
