Fasting and Praying
Neither fasting or praying does anything for us. The true is that only God does, when we find grace with him.
Why then to fast and pray? We want to find grace at the eyes of God.
Fasting and praying are sacrifices that would not make sense if we do it in secret, unless we believe in God.
When we pray and fast, in secret, the only justification to such action is just plain believe that there is a God. And also that that God has some or all power to solve our problems.
God is pleased when we believe in him and seek him in our troubles. But why sometimes fasting and praying does not make it?
6 Is not this the fast that I have chosen? to loose the bands of wickedness, to undo the heavy burdens, and to let the oppressed go free, and that ye break every yoke?
7 Is it not to deal thy bread to the hungry, and that thou bring the poor that are cast out to thy house? when thou seest the naked, that thou cover him; and that thou hide not thyself from thine own flesh?
8 Then shall thy light break forth as the morning, and thine health shall spring forth speedily: and thy righteousness shall go before thee; the glory of the LORD shall be thy reward.
When we fast or pray, let’s make sure are conscious are clean from sin and resentment. Let’s think about all those good things that we wanted to do for The Lord and we haven’t done yet. And let’s take the day to do it. Let’s renew our vows with the Lord. Let’s praise him from the heart and encourage others to do so.
Let’s think on someone that could need some help or just a word of appreciation and encouragement and do it in the name of The Lord.
Let’s take our day of fasting to give a wide smile to everyone we see.
Let’s bring the kingdom of God to our lives trough fasting and prayers and the glory of The Lord will shine for us.
All men of God in the bible fasted and prayed even Jesus. Moses and Jesus fasted for as long as 40 days including nights. I would called this one, the miracle fasting. The fasting itself was a miracle and proof of total and complete reliability in God. Most of us, are not at that level and for sure would die in the try. But we can start simple. Let’s honestly submit according the the measure of our faith. Some of us can only do it under medical supervision, others can do half a day or maybe with liquids. It does not matter, as long as we trust the Lord.
However you decide to start, do it not to impress others but to please your God remembering that our bodies are temple of the Holy Spirit and we should take good care of it.
Other about fasting:
“But this kind does not go out except by prayer and fasting.”
“But the days will come, when the bridegroom shall be taken away from them, and then shall they fast in those days.”
1 Thessalonians 5:17
“Pray without ceasing.”
“Watch ye and pray, lest ye enter into temptation. The spirit truly is ready, but the flesh is weak.”
God bless you!
